How to Recover From Dental Implant Procedures Quickly

After a dental implant procedure, we want to return to our jobs and routines as quickly as possible. However, it is not recommended to do that before we fully recover. So, what do we need? A remedy for a quick recovery that will not affect the implant in any way. How do we do this?

  • Rest

Rest heals the body. After a dental implant procedure, don't push yourself to perform tiresome tasks. It will only slow down the healing process. Instead, take some time off to rest.

  • Stick to soft foods

After the procedure, you don't want any jaw movement as it can delay the healing process. Instead, eat foods such as steamed vegetables, smoothies, and protein shakes so you get nutrients in your body without having to chew too much.

  • Stay hydrated

It is essential to stay hydrated after the surgery. Staying hydrated will make you feel good and allow your body to flush out the toxins during recovery. Keep away from alcohol and caffeine as they are known to dehydrate the body.

  • Quit smoking

Smoking slows down the healing process by depriving the body of oxygen that is needed for quick recovery.

  • Utilise ice packs to keep the swelling down

Swelling after the surgery is minimal. However, some people may experience it. Use an ice pack to reduce the swelling and provide pain relief. You can wrap it in a towel before placing it on your face. Use it for 20 minutes and then remove it for another 20 minutes before placing it again. If you let it stay on your cheek for too long or do not wrap it in a towel, it might result in an ice burn. Other ways on how to recovery quickly include:

  • Rinse your mouth with salt
  • Take pain medications that the dentist prescribed
  • Maintain good oral hygiene
